Good evening, Peck Elementary School families. This is Dr. Ashley Triplett, principal, with your updates for the week of August 16th through the 20th.
Open House will be held on Wednesday, August 18th outside on the Peck campus. Masks are required. Students and their families with last names A through G should plan to attend Open House from 4:15 until 5:00 pm, students with last names H through N should attend from 5:00 until 5:45 pm, and students with last names O-Z should attend from 5:45 until 6:30 pm. We hope to see you there!
The first day of school for students is August 23rd. Our instructional hours are 7:25 am through 2:10 pm daily. The building will open at 7:00 am for students.
The Out of the Garden fresh mobile market will be at Peck Elementary School on Saturday, August 21st at 10:00 am. Fresh produce and non-perishable items will be available to members of the community. Thank you!

Good evening, Peck Elementary School families. This is Dr. Ashley Triplett, principal, with your updates for the week of April 12th through the 16th.
This week, our third through fifth graders will take the NWEA test. These tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, so it’s easy for teachers to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly. Students will take the math NWEA on Tuesday, April 13th and the reading NWEA on Thursday, April 15th.
Please join us for our first parent symposium. Participants will receive lunch and a goodie bag. Our kickoff is Thursday, April 15th at 6:30 pm and the event continues Friday, April 16th at 8:30 am on Zoom. Please see the flyer that was sent home with students or information on the website for the Zoom link and other details.
As a reminder, we end student early dismissal pick-up at 1:30 pm daily. If you need to pick your student up for early dismissal, please do so before 1:30 pm. After 1:30 pm, please join the car rider line to pick up your student at the regular dismissal time of 2:05 pm. This is to ensure student safety, appropriate social distancing, and safe traffic flow for our GCS buses.

Esta semana, nuestros alumnos de tercero a quinto grado tomarán la prueba NWEA. Interim assessments for third through fifth graders will be given this week. 3rd grade students will take the interim assessment in math on Tuesday, March 23rd. Students in third through fifth grades will take the reading interim assessment on March 24th; students in 5th grade will take the interim assessment in science on Thursday, March 25th. As always, these assessments do not count toward students’ grades, but please encourage your student to do their best.
The Guilford County Schools OneCard is a safety and convenience initiative that ensures all student carry identification cards to not only help us know who is in our buildings but also comes with added benefits such as being used to check out media center resources and purchasing meals from the cafeteria. All students that access GCS bus transportation will scan their student OneCard when entering or exiting the bus. It may also be used to check out library books and access other resources from the public libraries in Greensboro and High Point. Students started receiving their OneCards and should wear them at all times while they are on campus.

La tarjeta OneCard de las Escuelas del Condado de Guilford es una iniciativa de seguridad y conveniencia que asegura que todos los estudiantes lleven tarjetas de identificación no sólo para ayudarnos a saber quién está en nuestros edificios sino que también viene con beneficios adicionales tales como ser usados para sacar recursos del centro de medios y comprar comidas de la cafetería. Our fourth grade students will take the interim assessment in math on Tuesday, March 9th. Students attending school in person will take the assessment in person and remote students will take the assessment remotely.
We continue to be open to students in Pre-K through 5th grades for face-to-face instruction, for those who have selected that option. We will be open daily at 7:10 am for student arrival, with the instructional day beginning at 7:35 am and lasting until 2:05 pm. Families, we need your help: Please be sure you have a mask on whenever you are on campus, including dropping off students who are walking to school or coming in a vehicle. Please minimize the belongings students bring to the building and note that families will not be permitted to enter the building at arrival or dismissal. Families who selected for their child in Pre-K through 5th grade to remain remote, will continue remote learning online.

During the weeks of February 3rd through the 19th, students in 4th and 5th grades will take a MAP Growth test from NWEA. MAP Growth scores help teachers check student performance by measuring achievement and growth. Growth tests are unique, and it adapts to your child’s responses to measure your child’s skill level. Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, it’s easy for teachers to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly.
Monday, February 15th is a workday and there is no school or remote learning.
Interim reports will be sent home on Tuesday, February 23rd. For questions related to your child’s progress, please contact their teacher.
